Vision

We firmly believe that by combining the unique features of 19th-century architecture of Łódź with artistic concepts visual arts, and initiatives focused on ecology and climate, we can collaborate with artists, residents, and visitors to develop innovative and multifaceted projects that highlight the beauty of our city. We aim to create original and emotionally engaging experiences that will enhance urban spaces and contribute to reinforcing the city’s post-industrial identity of łódź as an interesting, modern place open to innovative and attractive ideas.

What we do

Artistic and Cultural Activities

Artistic and photographic exhibitions that utilize color, light, and sound. Theatrical performances and dance shows, enriched with extraordinary characterization and scenography, providing unforgettable artistic and aesthetic experiences. Concerts in original arrangements, where music meets the art of light in unique places such as balconies, windows, and terraces, creating an atmosphere of harmony between sound and architecture.

Light.Move.Festival.

One of the largest, recurring outdoor cultural events in the country focusing on visual arts related to light and architecture. By creating a light festival, we aim to showcase and highlight the richness and valuable historical fabric of Łódź. Visual arts, including multimedia projections, draw inspiration from the nineteenth-century architecture, its ornamentation, and colorful history.

Mapping and Animations

Majestic light shows transform richly detailed architectural facades into stunning canvases. Perfectly synchronized with music, these displays craft a new dimension through three-dimensional visuals—moving constellations, swirling planes, and vibrant tunnels that captivate and immerse viewers. This experience goes beyond visual spectacle to engage all the senses, leaving an unforgettable impression.

Ecological Actions

One of our pivotal ecological initiatives is “Eco-yard – Łódź Residents for the Climate.” This project is designed to inspire local communities to actively participate in environmental protection and to enhance urban life by reducing heat islands and transforming courtyards into serene spaces for relaxation and leisure. We are also committed to integrating ecological principles into our lighting events, ensuring that our environmental impact is minimal while still creating vibrant and inviting atmospheres.

Conferences/Meetings/Panels

We host inspiring and educational panels with distinguished specialists in architecture, urban planning, design, lighting, and emerging technologies. Our conferences delve into the impact of architecture on contemporary society, while our “Architects on Architecture” meetings ignite thoughtful discussions on the factors shaping the urban landscape. These events foster meaningful dialogue and reflection on how various elements influence the final character of our cities.

Workshops/Exhibitions/Meetings

One of the Foundation’s key activities is hosting artistic workshops centered around visual arts, with a special emphasis on light art. These workshops include open sessions like “Light You Breathe,” “Night Photography Workshops,” and “Glowing Elements,” which delve into the captivating world of fluorescence. For younger participants, we offer “Magic of Light” workshops designed to spark curiosity and exploration of this enchanting medium

Majestic light shows, for which the screens are richly detailed architectural facades of buildings. This is not just a spectacle for the eyes, but also for the senses, where the experiences create an unforgettable impression.

Ecological Actions

One of the key ecological projects is “Eco-yard – Łódź residents for the climate.” Its aim was to encourage local communities to engage in activities for environmental protection and to improve the quality of life in the city by eliminating heat islands and arranging courtyards in a way that allows for relaxation and rest. Ecological solutions are also important to us in the realization of lighting events.

Conferences/Meetings/Panels

We organize inspirational and educational panels featuring distinguished specialists in architecture, urban planning, design, light design, and new technologies. We have held conferences illustrating the role of architecture in the contemporary world and co-organized the “Architects on Architecture” meetings, which sparked discussions and reflections on the conditions that influence the final appearance of the city.

Workshops/Exhibitions

One of the tasks of the Foundation is organizing artistic workshops related to visual arts, which focus on aspects of light art. These include open workshops on illumination such as “Light You Breathe,” “Night Photography Workshops,” and “Glowing Elements,” dedicated to the phenomenon of fluorescence. The idea to create the “Light.Move.Festival.” of Kinetic Art of Light in Łódź emerged around the turn of 2009 and 2010. Inspired by the post-industrial yet eclectic architecture of Łódź, initiators Beata Konieczniak and Norbert Wasserfurth-Grzybowski envisioned a cultural event that would showcase the beauty and unique character of the city’s 19th-century architecture. They chose light and its transformative potential as their medium.

To bring this vision to life, they established a non-governmental organization dedicated to emphasizing the role of architecture and modern technologies in the contemporary world. Thus, in February 2011, the “Lux Pro Monumentis” Foundation—meaning “light for monuments”—was founded. This foundation aimed not only to revitalize the material fabric of the city but also to highlight its inherent beauty. The founders included Beata Konieczniak, Norbert Wasserfurth-Grzybowski, Mirosław Kuliś, Krzysztof Stefański, and Krzysztof Pawłowski.

The first edition of the “Light.Move.Festival.” took place in 2011. From the festival’s inception, Beata Konieczniak has served as its artistic creator. She is responsible for organizing the event and collaborating with artists, cultural institutions, and higher education institutions to ensure its success.
